Shepparton Triathlon club is a small but fast growing Not for Profit Club which provides a supportive and encouraging environment in which members of all abilities can train, compete and socialise with like mined people.

We provide training, education, support and events for all levels and abilities from junior members right through to more experience athletes whom race long course traithlon.

STC is managed by a very dedicated volunteer committee which is elected annually at the Annual General Meeting held in May. More detail on how they can help YOU! can be found on our Committe Members page. All eligible financial members are welcome to join the committee.

CLUB HISTROY

The Shepparton Triathlon Club was formed in May 1987, originally as the Goulburn Valley Triathlon Club, with the change to its current name in 1991.

The STC held its first event in 1987 in Echuca with a 5km, 40km, 5km duathlon, and subsequent Duathlons races were held during 1988-89 at DECA and the Shepparton East Football Ground. In 1991 the club organized its first triathlon named the McPherson Mazda Shepparton Solar City Triathlon with the distance of 1km swim 40km, bike leg and 10k run. Records reveal that the club delivered profitable well run events that offered participants value for money. Something that still stands today.

From 1995 the event changed its name to the Goulburn Valley Base Hospital Triathlon and moved to Olympic distance events.

In the 2000’s the club again held to its position of looking at the longer distance race, moving to a Half Ironman distance of 1.8km swim, 90km bike and 21km run, gaining the support of Campbells as the major sponsor which has remained to this day.

The earlier races were always of a distance that was considered longer than the standard races and was generally held in December annually.

In 1991 the club developed the Shepparton District Secondary Schools Sporting Association Triathlon for school aged children, and this is an area the club is again focussing on through our Junior Development Program.

Membership during the earlier years started with just 14 members and has risen slowly over the years to its current levels.
